Mineral Oil

Often administered orally for impaction or to soften the stool and as an enema. It has a very soothing effect of the stomach. Mineral oil can also be used to dilute other preparations or mixed with alcohol as a sweat. Mineral oil can be applied to remove scurf and/or dry flaking skin. Mineral Oil is lighter oil than Glycerin and can often be used topically in the same fashion; however, it is not water-soluble. When mineral oil is applied to run-down patches, they can be removed easily.
