Often administered orally for impaction or to soften the stool and as an enema. It has a very soothing effect of the stomach. Mineral oil can also be used to dilute other preparations or mixed with alcohol as a sweat. Mineral oil can be applied to remove scurf and/or dry flaking skin. Mineral Oil is lighter oil than Glycerin and can often be used topically in the same fashion however it is not water soluble. When mineral oil is applied to run down patches they can be removed easily.
